“What would happen,” Christiaan Ribbens and Patrick Kersten wondered, “if in the future, all clothing would be electronic?” Their rather ambitious proposal is Woven: a sweater and pair of pants that register the wearers movement and heartbeat, give feedback trough audio, vibrations, dozens of LED’s and, when connected to a smartphone-app, Bluetooth. Accompanying the outfit is Spooky, a persuasive game played throughout the day. The wearer can be ambushed by ghosts at any given moment, prompting him/her to physically fight them off. Woven can also be used as a
workout coach or television remote.
The current prototype of Woven isn’t quite practical yet: for instance, it cannot be washed or ironed. Ribbens and Kersten are searching for partners to develop Woven with.
The outfit was designed by Marina Toeters and Melissa Petersen-Bonvie; Arne Hofer developed the audio.
