1D (yarns, lines) becomes 2D (sheets with the suggestion of perspective) becomes 3D (a house): Wies Preijde made a house of yarns and ribbons. These were clamped up in one direction and covered with a thin layer of glue. This resulted in thin sheets of textile with various stripes. Then she ‘built’ a house, with several rooms even. Beautiful, colourful, different and poetic, with strong graphical impact. It’s a new technique that’s being developed in the manufacturing of sails for racing-boats, and we’ve never seen it used in a kick-ass way like this!
